I have always been a caring and compassionate person and training to be a Foot Health Care Practitioner has allowed me to develop my knowledge and skill base to enable me to help keep people on their feet. Our feet support the rest of our bodies and are often overlooked for the hard work that they do for us. I believe that looking after them is a vital step in monitoring and maintaining our health, keeping us strong and balanced as we go forward in life.

Treatments available

Nails Cut and filed

If you have trouble reaching your nails, or if they are too thick and strong to cut easily, my nippers will be able to cut them. Involuted nails (as above) can also be cut along with some ingrowing nails.

Restrictions apply with ingrowing nails as I can not give pain killing injections or use a tourniquet to restrict blood flow to the area.

Fungal Nail Treatments

Fungal nails can be awkward for you to treat at home as they can quickly go brittle, thick and discoloured. I can burr them down, cut and file them. Medications can be used to treat them, although it does take continued use over the following months.

Toe comfort and protection

If you have a bunion or your toes go over the top or underneath others then toe protection items are available to use to ease discomfort.

Corns and callus

Corns and callus can be very painful if left untreated. In most cases it is advised to reduce or remove these.

Verruca and warts

Verruca and warts are caused by different strains of the HPV virus, which makes them difficult to resolve. The hard skin over them will need to be removed and then a variety of treatments are available.

Neurovascular Assessments

Are usually done on your second appointment. Along with a number of questions the doppler will listen to the blood flow to your feet. The sensations on your feet will also be checked with a monofilament.

Cracked and rough skin or fissures

Can be quite painful, especially if the hard skin has split and caused a fissure. This will be parred or burred down and an emollient applied.

I will also write to your GP or other applicable agent eg, diabetic foot nurse, and let them know the results of any treatment or concerns relating to your foot health.

CRYOPEN TREATMENTS
Are now available!
If you need a wart or verruca freezing on your hands or feet, a Cryopen treatment, which freezes the virus at -64 , can be a treatment option.
Prices start from £60 depending upon the number of lesions.
